Climate change is a working class issue.

The Working Class Climate Alliance (WCCA) was founded in 2023 in response to the exclusion of the working class from broader environmental spaces.

We are registered in the UK and work with individuals, groups, organisations and institutions worldwide.

A lack of time and money, alongside social exclusion rooted in classism, racism and other biases, are major factors in alienating working-class people from environmental spaces, despite their rich history of environmental engagement and deep knowledge of how to care for the planet and each other.

This is why the WCCA exists. Originally established as a membership and campaigning organisation, in 2026, amidst a challenging funding landscape we made the difficult decision to close down this side of our work in order to focus on education, advocacy and skills training. We are dedicated to raising awareness about working class environmentalism, working class rights and needs, and how best to engage with working class communities. We achieve these goals in various ways such as through delivering workshops, skills training sessions, providing consultancy services, public speaking and lending practical advice to campaigns. We collaborate with people across the world including trade unions, working class-led groups, middle class-led groups, as well as the professional sector (such as academia think-tanks, NGOs and charities). Check out our Annual Reports to read more about our achievements.

The WCCA has received a generous grant from the Calouste Gulbkenian Foundation to support the work that we do. We are also funded through ticket fees from our events, and commissioned work from organisations and institutions whose mission aligns with our values. You can read more about who we have worked with, and the type of work that we do here.

We are registered in the UK and members of the Wellbeing Economy Alliance (WEAll), The Climate Coalition, the Climate Justice Coalition and The Movement’s Trust. The Movement’s Trust acts as our fiscal sponsor. We are not affiliated with any political parties.
