Code of Conduct

The scope of our Code of Conduct is to provide a clear set of standards to guide people in behaving appropriately at in-person and remote WCCA events and trainings.

The WCCA reserves the right to refuse admission to individuals for breaching our code of conduct. The WCCA also reserves the right to evict individuals during events for refusal to abide by our code of conduct.

Freedom of Expression:

1.1 People have a right to freedom of expression and belief, as well as the right for this to be respected by other members. This includes the freedom to critique a different perspective, however any critique(s) provided must never be a personal attack upon the individual and must be constructive. Debate the idea and not the person is not just a mantra – it is a value that we put into practice.

1.2 People shall be respectful of others and give them space to finish their opinions without interrupting, shouting or talking over them.

1.3 The right to freedom of expression only applies when the expressed belief is one that seeks to do no harm (for example, the perpetuation of far-right ideologies is unacceptable and will not be tolerated). The perpetuation of harmful ideologies such as these will result in the immediate revocation of membership by the WCCA.

Diversity and Inclusion:

2.1 Working class autonomy must be respected and adhered to at all times.

2.2 The stance of the WCCA is that a strong working class capable of transformative change is a united one – united across the global North and South, and united with the middle class in solidarity. Our differences are a source of strength – both to the organisation and to populations worldwide. People must therefore be considerate, respectful, tolerant and civil towards each other.

2.3 We understand that people have different personal circumstances as well as different preferences for matters such as communication. The WCCA will make every effort to ensure that our activities, communications etc. are as accessible as possible for everyone. However, if you do have a suggestion as to how we can better meet your preferences, please email us at info@wccalliance.org (or approach us during an event) and we will do our best to accommodate this.

2.4 No one shall be discriminated against, harassed or bullied under any circumstances.

2.5 To raise an issue with the WCCA’s regarding another individual’s behaviour please email us at info@wccalliance.org (or approach us during an event). In the event that an issue is raised, we will seek to work with all member(s) involved to come to a resolution.
