Ecosocialism 2023 Conference

11th November 2023

The Ecosocialism 2023 conference that the WCCA is helping to organise will be on Saturday December 2nd in London (Indian YMCA, 41 Fitzroy Square, London, W1T 6AQ) and streamed online, 10.30am – 5pm GMT. Prompted by an appeal for an ecosocialist conference earlier this year by the activist group Anti*Capitalist Resistance, the day will centre around how to create a movement that’s rooted in the trade unions, communities, schools, colleges, universities, workplaces, driven by a reignition of working class consciousness and intra-class collaboration.

On the day Simon Pirani and Clara Paillard will be discussing the destructive nature of capitalism, Matt Huber and Elke Pirgmaier will be debating whether degrowth is necessary and the best option for humanity, and Max AjlAlia Amirali and Noah Hertford from the youth-led think-tank Climate Vanguard will be discussing developing an ecosocialist strategy based on their own mobilising experiences in activism.

This conference organisers intend for the day to be a step towards building an international coalition of activists, researchers, trade unions and organisations capable of transforming society into one that is sustainable and just for present and future generations. In-person or online tickets can be purchased here. A tiered pricing-structure is in place with free tickets available for those unable to meet the cost.
