Make Them Pay

22nd June 2025

In 2024, global billionaire wealth grew by $2 trillion while people are struggling more and more to make ends meet, public services like the NHS and schools are crumbling and climate disasters are on the rise. This is not a coincidence. The fossil fuel industry, big business and the super-rich are responsible for rising global wealth inequality and climate collapse. They have knowingly driven us to this point, profiting from the crises that now affect us all. It’s time that they are made to pay. If we work together, we can build a fairer society, as well as a liveable future for generations to come.

Make Them Pay aims to be an intentionally flexible and broad umbrella, an informal coalition designed to coordinate and grow work already happening across the climate movement in the run up to COP30, and link it to broader calls from across wider social justice movements for economic justice, including an end to wealth inequality, a stable economy, good jobs and a functioning NHS.

On Saturday 20th September, a massive Make Them Pay event will take place in London – the same weekend that people across the world are coming together to draw the line against corporate and billionaire greed. This will be an ambitious and exciting day of action, incorporating elements of protest, political education and entertainment. We’re inviting everyone to sign up to be part of the event, and come together to demand that the super-rich pay.
