5th September 2023
On our launch date (October 1st) at 4pm GMT we will be appearing on a remote panel discussion titled “Climate Crisis and the Working Class”, hosted by the Socialist Reading Group. We will talk about the relationship between capitalism, the environment, the neo-colonial model development and its effects on the masses.
We will be joined by:
- John Barry, Professor of Green Political Economy at Queen’s University Belfast.
- Abira Ashfaq, visiting faculty at the Institute of Business Administration Karachi, anti-eviction organiser and political worker at the Women Democratic Front and the Awami Workers Party.
- Ibrahim Burrio, ecosocialist, student activist and political worker at the Awami Workers Party.
This is an incredibly special event for us. The WCCA’s core ethos is that a strong working class is one that is united across country borders, and to be participating in an event that brings thinkers from both the global North and South together to discuss these issues on the organisation’s launch date could not be more reflective of what we are trying to achieve. We would like to express our deep gratitude to the Socialist Reading Group for the invitation to this discussion.
