Join us for our monthly reading group session on December 11th, 6pm-7.30pm GMT! For our third session we will focus on storytelling and anti-colonial movements. We will be reading Aimé Césaire’s Discourse on Colonialism, a text that dismantles colonial ideology and exposes the moral emptiness of European claims to civilisation.

Storytelling has long been used by the working class to preserve joy, and solidarity, as well as pass down traditions and knowledge. It has also been used to make sense of the world’s injustices and reimagine alternative ways of living. For the working class, storytelling is as much an educational tool as it is a form of resistance and instrument for revolution.
This theme forms part of our reading group series, where we explore the histories, strategies, and cultural practices that have shaped working-class struggles across time. Each theme will comprise of six sessions in total – with the last one being a panel discussion where we will invite speakers to share their experiences and work in this area.
